Why I became a counselor

People often carry more than anyone around them realizes. Through my own experience with counseling, I saw firsthand the freedom that can come from a safe place to be honest, feel understood, and work through what may be keeping you stuck. That experience shaped my decision to become a counselor and the kind of space I hope to create for others, supportive and free of judgment.

The people I work with come to counseling in many different seasons of life; a teenager overwhelmed by academic, athletic, or social pressure, or an adult who appears to be doing well but privately feels anxious, exhausted, or stuck. My goal is to help you understand what is happening beneath the surface and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

My approach

Authentic, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based care.

Counseling should be personalized to you, not based on a one-size-fits-all plan. Together we will understand your experiences, identify your goals, and determine what support will be most helpful.

I take a holistic approach that considers the emotional, relational, physical, and spiritual parts of your life, and I like to get to the core of what is going on. Along with practical coping skills, we may explore the patterns and beliefs that continue to affect how you feel, relate to others, and respond to difficult situations.

Experience with teens

Experience Supporting Teens

A significant part of my work has been supporting teens through anxiety, perfectionism, low mood, self-esteem and body-image concerns, friendship changes, family conflict, and academic or athletic pressure. I have also provided counseling and wellness support in a private high school setting, which has given me a real understanding of the pressures teenagers face inside and outside of school.

I support teens with patience and respect. I want them to feel known and understood as individuals, not treated as problems that need to be fixed.

Experience with adults

Understanding the Demands of Adult Life

Before becoming a counselor, I spent more than ten years in the corporate world. That gave me a firsthand understanding of workplace stress, high expectations, professional transitions, burnout, and the difficulty of balancing work with the rest of life.

In private practice, I support adults navigating anxiety, boundaries, relationships, grief, self-esteem, and significant seasons of change.

Faith and counseling

A counselor with a Christian worldview

I am a counselor with a Christian worldview. My faith guides how I approach my work through compassion, grace, hope, and respect for each person who walks through my door.

When a Christian client would like faith to be part of counseling, I am happy to incorporate it. It is never assumed or required, and clients from all backgrounds and beliefs are genuinely welcome.

Why “Live Mindfully”

The name Live Mindfully reflects my heart for helping people live life to the fullest—to live (mind)FULLY.

Mindful living does not mean a perfect or problem-free life. It means becoming more aware of what is happening within you, understanding what may be keeping you stuck, and making intentional choices that align with the life you want.
